What Papa Al Told Me

Papa Al and I played Scrabble. I asked him if I needed to teach him. He laughed and said that he could beat me at Scrabble. We sat on the floor of the living room of our old house. I got a pad of paper and a pencil and wrote a word at the top of the page. I gave Papa Al the pad and the pencil. He didn’t know how to play Scrabble. I taught him when I was 9. We played for a long time. When we filled up both sides of the page with words I told him wait until I added the score up. When I added up our points I won and told him. He was very happy and pointed his finger at me face and said don’t’ forget it. I beat him at the game. He thought that I was smart since he teaches. I couple years after that he came back for another visit. He made me a deal about me going to college which I did at Gusto University. I went to a special high school in Taunggyi to get ready for college. While there I won a math contest of all student in Shan State. I went to Gusto for two years and want to go to college in America so that I can help Myanmar become a better country. I took a online class from Papa Al last semester and I am taking an English comp class online this semester. Papa Al believed in me after I beat him in Scrabble.

I want to help my classes that I teach. That way others can learn and help my country.
