Putin isn’t well-read. Apparently, Czar Putin missed reading The Epic of Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh wanted to be remembered after he died. However, he wasted a lot of time looking for immortality and failed. Gilgamesh’s mantra was, “Forget death and seek life.”

Equally obvious, Czar Putin hasn’t read Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln by Doris Kearns Goodwin. She wrote about Lincoln running against three rivals for the nomination as the Republican candidate for the presidency in 1860. Lincoln was a nobody from Illinois. Nevertheless, he beat three other well-known Republicans as the party’s choice for the President of the United States, which he won.

When Lincoln became the president, he asked his rivals to serve in his administration. William Seward became the Secretary of State, Salmon Chase became the Secretary of the Treasury, and Edward Bates became Attorney General.

That is the backstory. Putin needs to feel the accolades of those in his administration. However, the numbers have dwindled down to a precious few. The following are three different groups in Putin’s government that met with after the invasion of Ukraine.
