JD Vance rewrote history also. Nixon and the Watergate fiasco were the result, according to Vance, of a deep state conspiracy against Nixon. This clandestine effort was to bring down Tricky Dicky.

Vance tried to rewrite the history of Watergate, even though he was born a decade after Nixon resigned. The facts of Nixon’s downfall remain in the history books. Nixon did not resign because of a deep-state cabal or conspiracy. After Woodward and Bernstein spoke with their source known as Deep Throat, a long investigation followed.

When Nixon refused to leave office, Sen. Hugh Scott, Sen. Barry Goldwater, and Rep. John Rhodes met with him on August 7, 1974; Two days later, Nixon resigned. The Watergate scandal resulted in 69 people being found guilty. None of them were a part of a deep state conspiracy.

No matter what Vance’s version of history is, there is one person who understands the facts about Nixon’s resignation.
