Witch Hunts
Question: Who Is the Witch?

I spent a year studying overseas at the University of Edinburgh. I enjoyed that educational experience at New College, which is the university’s theology and philosophy department . The name of New College came from the fact that it was new in 1843 when it started nearly two centuries ago. However, learning outside New College’s hallowed halls is equally important.

New College, along with Edinburgh Castle, was built on The Mound, which was an active volcano 340 million years ago.

At the other end of the Royal Mile is Arthur’s Seat, another volcano formed at the same time as The Mound.

Even more fascinating is that many of the buildings on the Royal Mile were built atop Underground Edinburgh. Edinburgh was built over the older buildings on The Mound in 1788.

Underground Edinburgh

Living in Underground Edinburgh was not a pleasant experience. One would never see the sun or breathe fresh air in that underground city . It was a squalid and filthy place to live, but it w as the home for the poor in Edinburgh .

However, from the 16 th to the 18 th century, Edinburgh and the rest of Scotland spent a lot of time hunting for witches. The government passed the Witchcraft Act in 1563 . Apparently, witches were causing a litany of problems for the Scots at the time. During that unfortunate period, 3,837 witches were arrested for satanic activities like dancing with the devil. For those infractions, about two-thirds were burned at the stake or hanged.

Scottish Witches

The Scots stopped hunting for witches in 1735. Apparently, they had disposed of all the Scottish witches. However, in the States, there is another witch hunt. Our glorious former president is a victim of a witch hun t, he claims .

However, others think that Trump is a witch. If you wish to determine whether Trump is the victim of a witch hunt or the witch, merely watch this belief portion of Monty Python and the Holy Grail to determine who is a witch.

Perhaps, weighing Trump and a duck is not the best means of determining whether all the investigations in New York, Georgia, Florida, or Washington, DC are unfair witch hunts or Trump is the witch. In the next few months, it will become abundantly clear the verdict. In the meantime, we all need to look at the evidence being presented in all the cases. It will be another Kierkegaardian either/or question about who the witch is. We all need to be honest. A handful of indictments are about to be made, and all t he facts will soon be seen.
