Hanging My Problem on My Lantern
Contacting Rod Stewart

This is the first in a series of essays about a suggestion of Bobby Kennedy, my most important mentor. I have followed Bobby’s advice for nearly five decades. He said that when facing problems which seem insurmountable, “Hang a lantern on your problems.”

Hanging my lantern on my problems went steroid.

Exactly a year ago, I wrote The Magnificent Seven…My Dream Team. I wanted to have my dream team of six other people return with me to Myanmar with 1250 laptops for the two schools where my granddaughters attend in Taunggyi, Myanmar.

So, what’s my problem that is hanging on my lantern? I have tried and failed to contact some of my dream team. This essay is about Rod Stewart. His music has captured a part of my drive to raise a half million dollars for 1250 laptops. One of his songs that I dearly love is Forever Young. I thought it was about two young lovers. Rather, it is about the love that he has for a young child. Talk about a song resonating with me. Essentially, that song is about my relationship with Ti Ti, Snow, and Fatty, my three granddaughters in Myanmar.

I have sent numerous emails and regular letters to his website, promoters, and places where he was singing. And, as I said, I failed, and I don’t like failing. Therefore, this is the deal. If you can contact Rod Stewart and send him a link to this essay and to my GoFundMe account, www.gofundme.com/wearefamilyinmyanmar, ask him to email me at campbell@wolverton-mountain.com. I truly believe that he would return with me during my winter break from teaching in mid-December 2019…eight months from now, if I get a chance to talk to him. I need your help.

If you do that for me and 1250 students in Taunggyi, this is my part of the deal. I will make dinner for you and your significant other at my place in Crown Point, IN. I am an experienced chef. Actually, I studied under the chef at Rick's Café in Casablanca.

This is where I learned my craft.

I will also interview you for my website. Additionally, I will present you a large Himalayan Salt Lamp. If you are the first person to get him to contact me, you will be rewarded for you efforts. You will get a delicious meal, I’ll do a great interview of you, you will receive a Himalayan Salt Lamp, and you will receive the best reward…the gratitude of 1250 students who will be able to use the Internet to further their educational experience.

Finally, at the end of my GoFundMe request of a half million dollars, I made three requests. I would also like you to consider all three of these items.

1. I am asking you to contribute to my dream of raising $500,000.

2. My next request is for you to send this link to your friends and ask them to send it to their friends…ad infinitum.

3. My final request is to return with me to Myanmar during winter break in 2019…less than a year from now. You will see where your money is being sent. Additionally, you might discover a part of your family living in Myanmar. My discovery changed my life. It was my one moment in time, and it can be yours also.

I hope you are successful in getting Rod Stewart to contact me. It will benefit 1250 students halfway around the world.
